Your Board Layout

With your schematic finished, it's time to start laying out your board. It's now that you decide where your components will best fit, and how they will connect together.

TODO:

  • pay attention to through-hole components and where the legs might end up ( HATs in particular )
  • Pay attention to datasheets and where components should be placed
  • Routing, tooting board layout, things to do and things to avoid.
  • 45 degree angles in all the places
  • Avoid acute angles ( acid traps )
  • 8mil routing generally
  • 8mil spacing between routes
  • 12, 16 or 20mil for larger currents
  • leave ground routes for later
  • Square vias for VCC, round for ground
  • Drill/Via sizes (0.5mm)

  • Essential Commands

    • Display alias: “dis = copper none top bottom;”
